Capill

It seems former Christian Heritage Party Leader Graham Capill has fallen almost as far as he possibly can. If you end up here then you know things aren't going too well. 6 more historical sex abuse charges have been laid against him. It follows his earlier guilty plea to a charge of indecently assaulting an eight year old girl. However these charges are much more serious:

1) Between 1/9/90 and 8/6/94 indecently assaulted Complainant A, a girl aged under 12 (representative charge)

2) between 9/6/90 and 8/6/92 attempted to sexually violate Complainant A by attempted rape

3) Between 5/2/97 and 4/2/99 sexually violated Complainant B by rape

4)Between 5/2/97 and 4/2/99 sexually violated Complainant B by unlawful sexual connection (representative charge)

5) Between 5/2/92 and 4/2/99 indecently assaulted Complainant B, a girl aged under 12.

6) Between 5/2/97 and 4/2/99 sexually violated Complainant B by rape.

As you can see from the date of these charges the alleged offending happened at a time when Capill was preaching morality and a tirade against sex offenders in his position as leader of the Christian Heritage Party. Naturally these developments have got a lot of coverage in both print and radio, but there are still a few who are prepared to stick up for him. Though it's nice to see a church taking a balanced view (look about halfway down this sermon).

He's entered no pleas to the new charges and has been remanded on bail to the 28th of June.
